Black out the private parts of a document before you share it.

PageMask scans IDs, passports, bills and letters. You confirm every black box, the original stays in an encrypted vault, and none of it leaves your iPhone.

An iPhone app, not released yet.

A made-up sample. Black boxes are baked into the image. The amber box is still waiting for your OK.

How it works

  1. Scan

Hold the phone over an ID, passport, bill or letter. Multi-page scans straighten and crop themselves, and you can export a PDF or JPEG. Scanning is free, with no watermark and no page limit.

  2. Review every box

The app finds things like ID numbers and account numbers and proposes a black box for each. Nothing is final until you confirm it. Then the black is baked into the image and the app reads the result back to check nothing shows through.

  3. Share the redacted copy

The share sheet offers the redacted copy first. The original stays in your vault, so you never have to choose between keeping a document and sending it.

Also in the app

Vault
Keep your passport, tax forms and leases in a vault that opens with Face ID or your passcode. Files are encrypted on the phone and left out of iCloud backup unless you choose to include them.
Explain this letter
Point it at a bill or an official letter and get a short summary, what it asks of you, the amount and the deadline. It runs on the phone with Apple's on-device model, so it needs iOS 26 and Apple Intelligence. It can be wrong, so check the original. It is not legal, medical or financial advice.
Search
Find a document by any word in it. The search runs on the phone, like everything else.
Sign and fill
Add your signature and typed text to a PDF before you send it back.

Your pages stay on your phone.

PageMask has no server for your documents. Scans, redactions and vault files live on the iPhone and nowhere else, so we never hold a copy.

Pro, one purchase

  • Redaction
  • The vault
  • Explain this letter
  • Search and sign

Try redaction and explain three times each before you decide. Pro is bought once through the App Store, and a lifetime purchase is never turned into a subscription. A yearly option sits beside it for anyone who prefers it.

Prices are set in the App Store. They will be listed here when the app launches.

Quick answers

Do I need an account?

No. There is nothing to sign up for, and nothing to log in to.

Does it work without a connection?

Yes. Scanning, redaction, the vault and search all run on the phone.

Which iPhones does it run on?

iOS 17 or later. Explain this letter needs iOS 26 and an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence. On other phones the rest of the app works and that one feature is switched off.

What if I lose my phone?

The vault still needs your Face ID or passcode. We have no copy of your files, so keep a backup of anything you cannot replace.
